We are excited to announce a new theological speaker series, titled “Catholics Invade the Bar: ¡Viva México!”. St. Vincent de Paul Church (SVDP) and the Knights of Columbus Council 6020, are partnering with SVDP parishioners, Olivia and Rafaél Jimenez, the owners of Casa Jimenez Restaurant in Huntington Beach to bring you a 9-week series of dynamic lectures by exciting speakers from across the country beginning April 19 and continuing until June 14, 2023.
Each Wednesday from 6pm-730pm, we will meet at Casa Jimenez Restaurant to learn more about the “faith delivered once and for all to the saints” (Jude 3).

Space is limited, and we’d love to see you there, so register now! The suggested donation for each evening is $15 ($135 for the whole series). Food and drink will be available for purchase at Casa Jimenez, so come hungry and thirsty both for a tasty meal and for the truth.
This is the 2nd Annual Edition of CIB, which Fr. William Goldin started at his previous parish, Our Lady of Fatima in San Clemente. The first CIB was a sell-out success that took place at HH Cotton’s American Bar and Grill in San Clemente from December 2021 through February 2022. • Seating will be first come, first served. Once you arrive, please sit where the restaurant staff seats you.
• Check-In - Your registration is "not" a ticket. We will be checking people in. People who are not registered will be able to be on stand-by until 10 minutes before the 6 PM start time. If you do not arrive on time, you will lose your spot.
• Open seating - We need to fill every seat in the restaurant so you may possibly be joined by new friends. Similar to a cruise ship.
• No reserving seats - Seats will be filled as people arrive. In order to make this easier for the restaurant staff and volunteers, there will be NO RESERVING SEATS for people who are not present.
• How early can you arrive? You can arrive as early as 5:15 PM. Please plan on ordering your food and drink as soon as you are seated. We are so blessed that Casa Jimenez Restaurant has opened their doors for this Catholic series so let's show our support by patronizing their business and ordering food and drinks.
• The Program starts at 6 PM sharp! Be sure to plan your travel time accordingly so that you don't miss out on anything.
• Parking is available in the front and back of the restaurant.

Fr Hugh, a native of Southern California, is a priest of St Michael’s Abbey of the Norbertine Canons in Silverado. He entered the community in 1982 and was ordained priest in 1990. Fr Hugh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Classics from the University of North Carolina, a License in Patristics from the Lateran University in Rome’s Augustinianum, and a doctorate in Philosophy from the Angelicum also at Rome. He has served in various ways in his community over the years teaching, and currently is assisting the abbey’s librarian-archivist in curating the abbey’s Oden collection of early and rare books.

Mr. Gabriel Meyer
Poet-journalist Gabriel Meyer is an award-winning foreign correspondent who has lived and worked throughout the Middle East, the Balkans, and East Africa. He was especially acclaimed for his coverage of the first Palestinian intifada and of the Bosnian war. His reporter’s diary on the civil war in Sudan, War and Faith in Sudan (Eerdmans), won ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year award for essays in 2006. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of his work as a journalist by the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology at UC Berkeley in 2017 and by Lancaster University (UK) in 2022. He has published poetry and two novels; a large-scale nonfiction work, The Testimony of Stones, a “biography” of Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulcher, is awaiting publication.
A Greek-Catholic, Meyer currently serves as cantor of St. Andrew Russian Greek-Catholic Church in El Segundo, California.

Tikhon Alexander Pino is Assistant Director of the Pappas Patristic Institute at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Boston, Massachusetts. He studies the Church Fathers and Byzantine theology, and he is the author of Essence and Energies: Being and Naming God in St Gregory Palamas published by Routledge. A Cuban-American and a native Spanish speaker, Dr Pino is a husband and the father of six children.

Fr. Tim Donovan was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Orange in the summer of 2017. Before entering the seminary he was a youth minister and continues to have a heart for young people and their families. He currently serves as the chaplain of Santa Margarita Catholic High School and is the Founder and President of Faith and Family Life Catholic Ministries.

Fr. Dan Hess is a priest of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati where he is currently the Dean of Men and instructor of theology at Mount St. Mary's Seminary & School of Theology. He was ordained a priest in 2011 and has served as a parochial vicar, high school teacher, and chaplain. While studying at the Angelicum in Rome he also served as chaplain to the University of Mary (Bismarck, North Dakota) Rome program. Prior to his priestly formation, Fr. Hess earned a Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School and attended the Franciscan University of Steubenville. He is the oldest of six children and is a native of Dayton, Ohio.

Fr. Henry Stephan, O.P., is a Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Joseph. An alumnus of Princeton University, Fr. Henry entered the Dominican Order in 2011, and was ordained a Catholic priest in 2018 after completing his S.T.L. at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. He is currently a doctoral student at the Medieval Institute of Notre Dame, where he studies the history of political thought. His scholarly interests include civic friendship, constitutionalism, and the common good.

Dr. Suzanne Strom is an Associate Clinical Professor at UC Irvine Health. An alumna of Rice University and University of Texas-Houston Medical School, Dr. Strom completed her graduate medical education at UCLA, with an internship in General Surgery, residency in Anesthesiology and fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology. She has a passion for education, having taught and published on subjects such as Physiology, Pharmacology, Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, and Simulation in Healthcare. Her clinical practice is at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where she enjoys shepherding medical students and residents through acute care situations around the hospital. She has held various roles in Graduate Medical Education, including Residency Program Director for Anesthesiology and Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education for Patient Safety and Clinical Learning Environment. Dr. Strom has taught about the beauty of Natural Family Planning (NFP) for 12 years in the marriage preparation retreat at Our Lady Queen of Angels. She has also taught Human Reproduction and Chastity to the 5th and 7th graders at OLQA Parish School
